Observations on Highway Roundabouts

The State of Wisconsin has introduced roundabouts into the highway system with cities and villages doing the same, Very good idea, traffic flows smoother, less fuel consumption with fewer stops/starts. Except !! I have seen drivers backing up to get to their turn, turning left into traffic to make a left turn, driving into roundabout at speed. Now I see this every week. Most of the times the cars have WI plates and they are every age. The concept is simple- cars in the roundabout have the right of way, you enter bearing right then turning right at your exit. Thats it .

While I am venting. The drivers in WI are a different lot. Some drive at full speed in fog/ice until they hit something, that something is usually another car traveling at a fast walk. Two for one in the Darwin Plan. The other morning after a light snow in a distance of 6 miles, six pickups/suvs in the ditch, all 4 wheel drive, gotta luve it !!!

There was a big backup and closure of I90/39 south of Madison a couple weeks ago. People were there all night stranded for 15 miles. After a investigation that said the cause was bad communications. WHAT THE F**K. The cause was snow on a grade and trucks got stuck. It would seem if you have a grade on a major interstate that would be a priority for 2 or 3 salt/sand/ plows to keep passable, And while were at it in a state where the winter brings snow/ice almost from Nov. thru April why are trucks not required to have chains. It works in other states.

Enough for today
